Constructed in two parts, the upper case features a dramatic bonnet top with a broken-arch pediment, spiral-flame finials, and fluted pilasters flanking five graduating drawers topped by a central shell-carved focal drawer. The lower section showcases a classic block-front facade anchored by three masterfully carved shells—alternating between convex and concave designs—over three rows of drawers. It is heavily adorned with brass batwing drawer pulls and carrying handles on the upper and lower sides, all resting securely on prominent ogee bracket feet. Combining meticulous construction with deep, lustrous wood tones, this stately statement piece offers both abundant storage and timeless, high-end traditional elegance. An original Providence, Rhode Island 1775 chest on chest can be found in the National Gallery of Art, Washington, DC. This beautiful example nearly perfectly mirrors it.
