Description
Three vintage religious gold foil triptychs.
The first one features an Italian Florentine Madonna and Child with Angels
The second examples of Russian / Greek Christian Orthodox are arched and features the Virgin Mary holding the Christ child in the Eleousa (tenderness) style, where their cheeks touch, and the Christ Pantocrator, or "All-Sovereign," holding an open Gospel book. The Virgin of Vladimir, also known as Vladimir Mother of God, Our Lady of Vladimir, and the Theotokos of Vladimir, is a 12th-century Byzantine icon depicting the Virgin and Child and an early example of the Eleusa iconographic type.
The third and smallest portable tryptich depicts the Virgin Mary and infant Christ in the "Eleousa" (tenderness) or "Theotokos" (Mother of God) style, similar to the Virgin of Vladimir iconographic type. The side panels feature other saints, with Jesus Christ on the right. Likely made in Greece and used for personal devotion or travel.
