Description

Rare vintage 1991 limited edition lithograph print titled "Seal in Water." Depicts a black and white seal / sea otter with blue and teal patches floating in swirling blue and teal waves, executed in a First Nations / indigenous / native folk art style. Pencil signed Tresham Gregg and numbered 38/42 along lower edge. Beveled wood frame; two tone blue layered mat.

Tresham Gregg's Mystical Blend silk screen prints are truly one of a kind as the colors are blended differently with each print. Tresham tries to get as interesting special effects as possible in the color blending. The designs are Tresham's own mystically oriented drawings, taken from his experience with spirit art and concepts of natural and indigenous spiritual thinking. They are the quintessential Alaskan Mystique art.

Tresham Gregg is a multi-medium artist from SE Alaska, owns his own gallery in his hometown of Haines, Alaska, but currently also works as a show producer in Southern California. He has traveled in the past to many countries, especially those that have a rich culture in art and spirituality. He has developed his own dance theater shows in Western Canada and California and also produced theater shows of his own in Alaska. Tresham has done shows in Alaska, Canada, India, Guatemala, California, and Oregon.

He is currently producing festival attire, puppets, masks and costumes, and special events in California. He also works in woodcarving, metal sculpture, silkscreen prints, and acrylic painting.

From the artist:
I'm a multi-medium artist from SE Alaska - an idyllic coast town called Fort Seward, Haines, Alaska. I grew up with the inspiration of both the granduer of the Northwest Coast and also the art and legends of the Natives there. I learned Native Art and carving as a youth and have done a lot of Native Art over the years, but now am involved in depicting a fantasy realm called Northwest Supernatural. Most of my images are spirit oriented, as I see spirits in everything as did the Natives of old. Most tell as story, or spirit story about the talismanic significance of the piece. I have my own galleries in my home town and have set up galleries in other places in the states. I feature mostly: woodcarvings, paintings, silk screen prints, metal wall sculptures and artistic puppets.
