Antique French Louis XVI style Bergère library wingback reading chair, circa 1890-1910. Made from walnut with a striking pediment featuring a quiver, arrows and torch amongst roses and ribboning. The pediment is set over a three-part silk upholstered back, carved with acanthus leaf, interlaced or twisted detail and egg and dart design. Features a padded seat set between apposing figural putto figures, intricately carved with hand resting over head. Lower apron is carved with scrolling foliate between cabriole legs with acanthus carved knees. The blue silk fabric showcases a chrysanthemum pattern. A truly remarkable specimen that will make a statement in any setting.
