Description

Late 18th early 19th century English Continental pewter charger / serving plate by Townsend & Compton (Thomas & Townsend Compton) of London. Round shape with recessed center and plain rim.

"The firm of Townsend & Compton was a partnership between John Townsend and his son-in-law, Thomas Compton. The partnership began circa 1784 and continued until 1802, a year after John Townsend's death. Production with this mark could be as late as 1811-1814.
