Description
Late 20th century lithograph print by Bart Forbes depicting a swan beating its wings on a glassy, mirror-like lake, under an orange sunrise / sunset. Beveled wood frame, beige and green layered mat.
"Bart Forbes (b.1939) gallery paintings represent a natural transition from his long career as one of America's most recognized illustrators. His clients have included such well known publications as Time and Sports Illustrated and corporate clients have included NBC, NFL, ABC-TV, The Kentucky Derby, Indianapolis 500, San Francisco 49ers and the America's Cup to name only a few. Bart has created many paintings for PGA golf tournaments and clubhouses. He was honored in 1988 as the Official Olympic Artist for the Summer Olympics in Seoul, Korea. Bart has also designed over 14 postage stamps for the US Postal Service.
Having recently turned his career toward fine art, Bart is using his creative energies to explore his own vision. Through his landscape, still-life and wildlife paintings he has found an opportunity to explore both texture and light in new ways. Bart's oil paintings are done in glazes - layering familiar subject matter over an abstract textural surface. The result is one of subtle color and depth that involves the viewer on many levels.
Bart was born in Oklahoma and he and his wife Mary Jo now live and work in Texas.
