Description
Late 19th century Anglo-Indian satinwood plantation chair. The plantation chair was inspired by Campeche chairs that were manufactured in the southern Yucatan peninsula in the late 18th and 19th century. These chairs generally have scrolled arms and a relaxed seat. The British or Anglo-Indian version from the 19th century included a similar design with long arms that swiveled out underneath as a foot rest as seen above. These chairs were often found in Latin American the Caribbean, American South and New England. The perfect accent for any porch or sun room.
