Late 19th century antique demijohn - an overzied wine bottle in pale blue glass with cork stopper - and hardwood tantalus style wine box / storage crate with lockable metal flap on top. Stamped on front G.W. Banker of New York. Circa 1880s.

"A Tantalus, is a traditional piece designed to securely hold a wine bottle, allowing the owner to display their prized possession while keeping it safe from unauthorized access. Named after the mythological figure Tantalus, who was eternally tempted by unreachable food and drink.
