Description

Vintage 2002 German Black Forest cuckoo clock by A. Schneider Sohne with Regula works; chimes and includes Romance Swiss made music box playing Edelweiss and Frohiliche Wanderer – No 3638. This clock is beautifully crafted in hand painted wood in the shape of a forest cottage with a leaf shaped pendulum. In the opening at the top four male and female figures in German folk dress dance in a circle beneath the cuckoo bird’s door. The face features gilded Roman numerals and hands, and a fox chases a hare between the braches of the rugged pine tree filled landscape framing the base. Includes three 1500 gram pine cone weights. “Anton Schneider began producing cuckoo clocks in 1848 in his farmhouse in Schonach. The Schneider family business is now in the 6th generation and has been producing high value cuckoo clocks at its current location since 1952.

In the years between 1952 an 1985 the modern factory building was extended in 7 periods of building. Our clock factory is today among the most modern and largest cuckoo clock factories in the Black Forest. Inspite of this, the old tradition of doing valuable carving work by hand has been maintained and in the last few years even greatly improved. This required intensive training of young woodcarvers under our direction.”
