Description
Vintage Chinese semi-abstract watercolor painting showing a vine of flowers twisting around a bamboo fence with snow. Circa 1980s.
This art is called 东(east)籬(fence)雪(snow)趣(delight), with a very poetic title, as 东篱 is from the Chinese
poem:“Picking Chrysanthemum Flower under East Fence”, by poet Tao Yuanming during the Six
Dynasties period (365 AD-427 AD). In this poem, the poet expressed his love of nature and pursuit of
freedom. The artist added 雪趣 “delight of snow” to deliver the beautiful message: on the fence, morning
glories bloom while snow (first snow?) falls.
amazing, don’t you think?
