Description
Early American dry sink cabinet, circa mid 19th century. Made of pine featuring rectangular form with serpentine and hand dovetailed accents, upper dry sink and lower cabinet with birds. Dry sink portion is removable which makes this cabinet one of a kind in comparison to other examples.
Antique dry sinks would have been used for everything from washing dishes and vegetables to bathing and shaving. Water for dry sinks was used sparingly as it had to be carried in from outside and heated on the stove if hot water was needed. A dry sink can be put to work in your dining room as a buffet or bar. Lower cabinet can be used to store your glassware, table linens, china and silverware. Tuck wine and liquor bottles out of sight until you are ready to set up a beverage station on top of the sink.
Condition
Good antique condition, wear and distressing commensurate with age and use, edge wear, finish loss, marking.
