Fossilized adz head that has been carved into an eagle. This artifact dates from approximately 1000 years ago from Saint Lawrence Island Alaska. The carving was done by a member of the Pelowook family from the village of Savoonga on Saint Lawrence Island. The Pelowooks are Siberian Yupik Eskimo and are well known for their carvings. The carving was done approximately thirty years ago. Copy of original purchase description included.
