9 Pc Set Antique Italian Renaissance Revival Carved Walnut Chairs Settee Desks

Description

Set of 9 pieces of antique Italian Neo-Renaissance furniture, circa 1870s, including 2 side chairs, 2 corner chairs, 2 arm chairs, a parlor settee / loveseat, writing table, and drop front / secretary desk. Made of walnut featuring Neoclassical styling with high relief figural carvings of cherubs / puttis, Northwind faces, doves / birds, acanthus / floral and reticulated / pierced accents. The chairs showcase a nice upholstered brocade seat over contoured and reticulated aprons. Legs are turned with arrow feet. The writing table has a carved top with one long drawer and pierced / reticulated sides, over turned legs connected by serpentine stretcher with cherub busts. The secretary desk features a drop front door with griffons and castle courtyard scene that opens to multiple cubbies and storage compartments with and additional pull out writing surface, supported by four turned legs connected by serpentine stretcher with cherub busts.

Condition

Good to Fair antique condition, wear / distressing commensurate with age and use, splitting, fading, past repairs. Damage to bottom right corner of secretary. Past restoration to chairs 1973. Some warping to side chair legs.
