History
Grand Rapids Chair company was founded in 1872 and remained in business in Grand Rapids, Michigan until 1973. In the beginning they specialized in chairs before later (1880s) expanding into chamber furniture. They specialized in tables, bookcases chests and sideboards from woods such as; birch, cherry and walnut. Towards the turn of the century they went away from chairs, moving onto historical styles like the dresser seen above. These became the staples of their lines furthering their roots in well built designs.
The label on the chest above was their first sticker label, and was in use from 1927-1946
