This is a great piece of plaster from Tibet. It is a plaster mask of Hayagriva Buddha which is the wrathful form of the boddhisatva Avalokiteśvara who embodies the compassion of all the Buddhas. Hayagriva is depicted as having a scowling face with three glaring eyes, Fangs, a weapon in his right hand. Hayagriva is believed to be able to cure diseases, especially skin diseases he was also worshipped by horse dealers because they believed he was able to scare away demons by neighing. This is an amazing piece and it would make a wonderful addition to your home or collection.
