Description

Antique Chinese Pewter-Encased Yixing Zisha Clay Teapot, dating to the late Qing Dynasty or early Republic Period (circa 1900–1920s). The teapot features a rich, unglazed reddish-brown terracotta Yixing earthenware body beautifully encased in an intricate, hand-detailed openwork pewter overlay.

The body ornamentation features a powerful Imperial Dragon with detailed scales, windswept whiskers, and classic five-clawed feet. The matching lid is accented by an openwork pewter grille depicting highly detailed flying bats, a traditional symbol of prosperity and happiness. The handle remains plain polished clay for a comfortable grip, while the spout and base are cleanly trimmed in solid pewter bands.
