Mid Century Chinese Hand-Carved Wood Mallard Drake and Hen Duck Decoys Pair 10"

Description

This beautiful matching pair of folk art Mallard duck decoys consists of a drake (male) and a hen (female) facing each other in a classic resting position. Hand-carved from solid wood, these decoys showcase a unique aesthetic style that highlights the natural beauty of the wood rather than utilizing full-body paint. Both birds feature stylized, deeply sculpted primary wing feathers along their backs, complete with delicately painted teal-blue and black speculum details on the sides. Dark glass eyes give them a lifelike expression.

The flat, smoothly finished wooden undersides reveal a beautiful, clean grain line. Each bottom is marked with a distinctive, handwritten two-character Chinese signature ("在林", likely transliterated as Zai Lin) cleanly painted in black ink, indicating they were carved or finished by a specific master artisan.
