Description

Late 19th century antique primitive blanket chest. Features a heavily distressed, weathered yellow ochre painted oak finish. This rustic trunk is built with a sturdy rectangular wooden frame, a hinged lift-top lid that opens to reveal a spacious unlined storage interior, and distinctive chunky wooden bun feet supporting the base. The underside of the lid has some latches suggesting that it may have been used in the past store tools.

Adding to its undeniable vintage charm, a classic antique skeleton key remains fitted inside the central iron lock mechanism on the front facade. This versatile primitive storage piece showcases raw, time-worn craftsmanship with extensive natural patina, wood grain variations, and surface distressing, making it an excellent statement piece for an entryway, mudroom, or at the foot of a bed.
