Description

A vibrant vintage Chinese export porcelain lidded storage jar (styled as a ginger jar or tea caddy) meticulously decorated in Macau during the mid-to-late 20th century. While it beautifully emulates older Japanese and Chinese brocade-style ceramics, the base carries the definitive Macau-style factory hallmarks: an overglaze iron-red square faux-reign seal flanked by a stamped orange inspection triangle.

The jar features an all-over, densely painted cobalt blue ground covered in a golden scrolling Karakusa (vine) pattern. The front and lid showcase scalloped white windows intricately hand-painted with a traditional Kacho-ga (bird and flower) scene featuring songbirds perched among blooming spring peonies. This serves as a wonderfully decorative, highly colorful piece of mid-century Chinoiserie export history
