Description

This antique pocket watch is a classic mechanical timepiece manufactured by the American Waltham Watch Co. The watch features a crisp white porcelain or enamel dial displaying prominent black Roman numeral hour markers, an outer minute track, and an independent seconds sub-dial located at the 6 o'clock position. The elegant, slender hands are crafted from blued steel, contrasting beautifully against the white face. Protecting the movement is a highly ornate, gold-filled case heavily decorated with intricate Victorian-style engine-turned patterns, swirling acanthus leaf scrolls, and detailed stippling. The center of the back case features a finely hand-engraved floral motif showcasing a blooming flower branch with textured leaves, while the inside of the case back features an aged, naturally patinated finish stamped with the case serial number 5313273, the brand name "Orient" in elegant script, and the quality guarantee "Warranted 5 Years." When the mechanical works are fully exposed, they reveal a beautifully frosted golden-gilt movement plate stamped with its own unique production serial number, 7990726, while a partial frame stamp on the outer edge mirrors the last four digits of the case serial number (13273). The complex internal layout showcases a prominent center wheel gear, an intricately hand-engraved balance bridge displaying an ornate Victorian scroll pattern, a central regulator arm for timing adjustments, and a functioning balance wheel assembly. While the watch is missing its front protective crystal glass and accompanied by several loose internal components, the spectacular craftsmanship of its textured case and prominent fluted winding crown remains a standout feature.
