20thC Italian Oil Painting "Street Singer" R. Figarios Boy Guitarist Gilt Framed

Description

This oil-on-canvas genre painting, titled "Street Singer" by artist R. Figarios (Italian, 1875–1948), is a poignant early 20th-century Italian work, depicting an intimate musical moment set against a dark, minimalist background. The composition features a young boy on the left with dark, curly hair, captured mid-performance with his head tilted back and his mouth wide open in an expressive, passionate song. He is dressed in a dark teal jacket, a brown vest, and a deep red cravat loosely knotted around his neck. Beside him stands an elderly gentleman with a prominent bald head, wispy long white hair, and a full, bushy white beard. The older man gazes forward thoughtfully, holding an acoustic stringed instrument resembling a guitar or lute, supporting its neck with his left hand as he prepares to accompany the youth. The artwork is beautifully housed in a heavy, ornate gilded frame decorated with intricate floral scrolls and a decorative inner border, complete with an attached metal nameplate at the bottom attribution center. The back of the piece reveals a traditional, sturdy mitered wooden stretcher frame fitted with a horizontal tension wire for easy hanging
