An absolutely stunning late 20th-century Art Deco style reproduction of a classic early 19th-century German Biedermeier secretaire � abattant (fall-front desk). This striking cabinet is crafted with highly figured, book-matched blonde birdseye maple veneers that display a rich, symmetrical grain pattern.

The piece features a distinct neoclassical architectural design, highlighted by a stylized stepped pediment top and flanked by two prominent ebonized full-length columns with detailed capitals. It offers an exceptional balance of functional storage and bold, dramatic aesthetic appeal, making it a perfect statement piece for an entryway, living room, or home office.
Interior

The drop-front writing flap opens down to reveal an extraordinary, highly decorative architectural interior theatre. The writing Surface features a stunning inlaid starburst/rosette medallion in contrasting dark wood, framed by double-line geometric stringing. The Central Tabernacle showcases anarched central mirror cavity flanked by miniature ebonized columns with gilt-finished bases and capitals. There are nine small internal drawers (four stacked vertically on each side, one horizontally beneath the center alcove). Each drawer is finished with detailed starburst marquetry and miniature ornate brass pulls.

True to historic German cabinetmaking traditions, this secretary incorporates clever, disguised storage compartments throughout its framework:
Hidden Crown Drawer: Built seamlessly into the upper architectural stepped pediment structure. Completely handle-free and hidden from view to discretionary store private documents.
Hidden Base plinth Drawer: Cleverly integrated into the very bottom plinth base moulding between the foot blocks. This flush, handle-free drawer opens seamlessly near the floor, offering a completely disguised space for security or low-profile storage.

Good Vintage Condition; Gentle wear from use and age. Light Edge and veneer wear. Small piece of veneer missing on lower left block foot.
