Description

Outer shell of an antique hot water "thermos" - orb shaped copper body with brass legs and handle. Originally would have been lined in felt or other insulating material and contained a glass bottle whose neck would extend out the opening. A hot beverage would have been placed in the bottle and encased in the shell to keep it warm while serving over a period of time.

Condition

Tarnish; dent in side; repair to one leg, missing handle, no insert.
