Art Deco era double-headed eagle heraldic wall plaque by the world-renowned sculptor Erik Cohrt. Beautifully cast in bronze with a dazzling double-headed eagle in gold at the center over a black background. The eagle is set on a shield beneath a gold helmet with drapery swags. Signed along the lower right, Circa 1925. Includes a chain for hanging.
Erik Cohrt (Denmark, 1902-70) studied at the Academy Reale in Rome, lived in Algiers for many years, and is known for his sandstone sculptures in the Copenhagen Zoo. As a sculptor, Cohrt worked in bronze, clay, wood, and plaster.
