This exquisite oil painting by Salvador Caballero (1944-2006), a Spanish artist, captures the essence of Port De La Selva, a coastal gem in the Costa Brava region of northeastern Spain. The painting presents a panoramic coastal view from a dock or boat, with a vibrant architectural landscape adorning a prominent hillside. Fishing vessels and sailboats are elegantly docked within the harbour.
The signed lower right and verso markings indicate the artist’s authorship. The painting is encased in a baroque frame adorned with scalloped corners, executed in gold.
Salvador Caballero, a self-taught artist, was born in Barcelona, Spain. He acquired his artistic knowledge from his uncle, Vincent del Olmo. Tragically, he succumbed to heart failure while engaged in his creative pursuits in his studio.
