In 1932, after spending time in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and High Point, North Carolina, honing his furniture skills, John Irwin Norris Sr. moved to Richmond, Virginia, to start Norris Reproduction Furniture Company. The business remained a family business specializing in high-quality reproduction English furniture until 1961 when John Irwin Norris Jr. closed the business to pursue a career as a stockbroker.
