Description
Early 20th century Loy-Nel-Art 02 vase by McCoy Pottery, first introduced sometime between 1905-1910. Cylindrical shape with slightly tapered base and low profile handles. Brown glaze with hand painted long stemmed flowers / carnations in orange and white.
"J.W. named this line for his 3 sons, Lloyd, Nelson, and Arthur. One of whom would found the first iteration of the pottery we all know and love. This line brightened up the previous brown glazes with greens and oranges applied over the typical glaze. Hand painted with colored slip decorations, shapes featured flowing forms and graceful lines.
The Loy-Nel Art line began production mid decade sometime, and continued a few years into what is known as the Brush-McCoy era. Post 1911 catalogs show that for some time, this line was produced along with known Brush-McCoy catalog items." (Source: McCoy Pottery Museum)
"McCoy is a brand of pottery that was produced in the United States in the early 20th century. It is some of the most collected pottery in the nation. Starting in 1848 by J.W.McCoy Stoneware company, they established the Nelson McCoy Sanitary Stoneware Company in 1910. They continued on almost into 1991, but had to close down due to declining profits" (Source: Wikipedia)
