Pair of rare mid 20th century centrifuges produced by the W.M. Welch Scientific Company of Chicago, IL. Base stamped 1684 D. Previously property of Northern Arizona University Physics Department.
"W M Welch founded his company in 1880 in Maquoketa, Iowa. In 1906 the company moved to Chicago and was incorporated as the W M Welch Manufacturing Company. In 1960 the name was changed to Welch Scientific Company. In 1968, Welch merged with the E H Sargent Company (founded in 1852) and changed the name to Sargent-Welch Scientific Company. In 1989 the Welch Manufacturing Division was sold to VWR International LLC. The company continues to operate today as a supplier of science education supplies." (Source: Analog Weather)
