Description

A large and impressive Jacobean / Spanish Revival buffet by Rockford Furniture Company out of Rockford, Illinois, circa 1920. Part of the "A" Line by Rockford their highest grade of manufacturing. Features a rectangular frame made from walnut with two large streamlined silverware drawers, one cloth lined with compartments. Beneath the two drawers are to larger centralized drawers flanked by outer cabinets with interior shelves. The sideboard is carved with quarter cut spindles, medallions, a scalloped fan motif and other ornate design elements. Features an ornate pierced backsplash and lower apron. The case is supported by robust baluster shaped bun feet.

Rockford Chair and Furniture Company
Organized in 1882, this company was one of the largest and oldest furniture manufacturers in the city. The company ceased manufacturing in 1950 and became a rental business until 1972, when its properties were sold to Rockford Standard Furniture.
