Antique 19th Century English Georgian Rosewood Campaign Writing Slope Desk 14"

Description

Antique 19th Century English Georgian campaign writing slope, box or travel desk. Made from rosewood featuring rectangular form with brass banding. Opens to purple velvet interior with multiple storage compartments and writing surfaces.

At one point in its history, this slope belonged to a Carrie Gilman of Philadelphia. A laminated newspaper clipping from her double wedding, and her brothers death were inside.

Condition

Fair condition; wear and distressing commensurate with age and use, scuffing / scraping / splitting, missing veneer, wear to velvet, detached nameplate, no key or key plate.
