Description

God be with you, land of Bavaria. Gott Mit Dir, Du Land Der Bayern.

Antique Marzi & Remy beer stein / tavern mug / tankard featuring pewter lid and heraldic crest / coat of arms with lions and crown.

"The firm of Marzi & Remy was founded in the Westerwald town of Höhr in 1879 by Anton Marzi and Simon Peter Remy. In 1880 they also started producing pewter items. By the end of the 19th century M&R had become one of Germany’s leading stoneware producers. In 1927 the company was taken over by Werner Remy (Simon Peter Remy's son) and Otto Buhler. Although it managed to survive two World Wars, the company found itself unable to cope with the rapidly changing marketplace of the late 20th century and was forced to permanently close its doors in 1994.
