The jug was made by Merkelbach & Wick at their production facilities Steingut- und Steinzeugfabrik, Kunsttöpferei sowie Zinngiesserei in Bahnstraße 9, Grenzhausen, Hesse-Nassau, Prussia around the early 1880s. The base mark within a roundel comprises M&W above Gr and is impressed with a metal punch.
