Antique Chinese Chinoiserie Ming Rosewood dining table. Made of solid rosewood with a hexagonal shaped base that extends and opens to reveal interior storage cabinets. Apron is carved with chinese meander and lower base features classical carved Fu prospertiy (luck) medalioun set within each panel. Made in Hong Kong.
The character Fú meaning ""fortune"" or ""good luck"" is represented both as a Chinese ideograph and, at times, pictorially, in one of its homophonous forms. It is often found on a figurine of the male god of the same name, one of the trio of ""star gods"" Fú, Lù, Shòu.
