Description

Vintage serigraph print of a small town 1950s style barbershop window with a peddle car titled “Subway Barber” by Randy Owens, 1983, pencil signed and numbered 47/99.

A rare departure from his most common theme of racing cars. “Randy Owens was born in Baltimore, Maryland on July 24, 1955 and grew up in Vienna, Virginia. Randy majored in fine art at Northern Virginia Community College and shortly pursued a career as a tennis professional. Randy was drawn to the vibrant colors, clean form and crisp edges of serigraphy (silkscreen printmaking) and after being introduced to auto racing in 1978, Randy began making serigraphs of motor racing subjects in his own unique style.

Randy has established a strong place in the American racing art scene, having produced over 300 handmade serigraph editions. Randy has signed his name to more original pieces of art than any other automotive artist in history. His realistic style is modern and evolutionary and the use of color and motion is the central theme.

Over the years, Randy has staged over 200 exhibitions of his work in five countries, including the Axis Galleries in Tokyo and 10 year retrospective shows at the famous l’art et l’automobile Gallery in New York City and the National Automobile Museum in Reno, NV. Since 1991, Randy has produced paintings for an annual motor racing calendar for Bridgestone. Over the years he has done many event posters for colorful events including the Miami GP, USGP at Indianapolis, Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix, Bahrain International Circuit, Road America events, and the Long Beach GP.

Randy was the official event merchandiser for the Grand Prix of Baltimore from 2011 through 2013. He produced artwork for official event posters and giclee images, along with hats, tee-shirts & other event merchandise.

Randy currently lives and works in Pasadena, Maryland alongside his wife, Rebecca.”
