After a painting by Cecilia Beaux
The painting was a gift to her dear friend Rosina Emmet Sherwood who was a book illustrator and one of the foremost female painter of that time. The two women had met through their connection with the arts, and in 1892 they wanted to celebrate their friendship by swapping portraits.
