Vintage hand carved troll figurine by Henning (catalogue number 132), dressed in a long yellow-green shawl or cloak, red dress and leaning on a walking stick. Marked “Roxy Sugar Rush, VT Sept 1976” by previous owner in pen on base. “In Norwegian folklore there are many supernatural beings. The most famous of these are the trolls. At twilight time they emerge from the hills and mountains. They are rather huge and sometimes dangerous, but they might wink knowingly. - Henning Englesen’s workshop is situated at Toten, a rural district 120 km north of Oslo. The workshop was built in 1950 in a personal style. Engelsen and his family have managed to create a good and inspiring atmosphere among the employees who all come from the district.”
