Description

#25338-BH6C
"Reed & Barton Victorian style bon bon dish (candy compote). Features ornate embossed floral & reposse scalloped design. The Reed & Barton story began in 1824, with Isaac Babbitt in his Taunton, Massachusetts pewter shop. He joined forces with craftsmen Henry G. Reed and Charles E. Barton to produce higher quality pewter ware.
Reed & Barton went through a phase when it marked pieces produced in a given year with a special icon. This practice began in 1928 with an acorn on some pieces and an eagle on others, and ended in 1957 with a symbol that looks rather like a missile.
In 1945 they used a special symbol to indicate a silver-plated Copper Alloy base metal.
This symbol (C circling an A) was coupled to the year date symbol. There is a photo attached of the bottom where that icon is visible along with 1301 they pattern type.
