Original Antique Oil on Board by Julian Onderdonk
Features a landscape in Southwest Texas 1909
Titled: A Summer Evening
Julian Onderdonk (1882-1922) was a Texan Impressionist painter, often called the father of Texas painting.
Onderdonks father was also a painter; and with his encouragement, Julian went on to study
with the likes of Verner Moore White and renowned Amerian Impressionist William Merritt Chase.
It was upon returning to Texas in 1909, from study with Chase in New York, that Onderdonk produced his best work.
His most popular subjects were landscapes and three of his work were featured by George W Bush in the Oval office during his term.
His works can currently be found in many museums and private collections.
