Berkey & Gay Furniture Company began its roots in 1866 in Grand Rapids, Michigan creating fine furniture until 1948. This beautiful demilune chest is made from Mahogany with lightly burled panels. The front is hand painted with a cameo between floral accents on the upper drawer. The lower cabinet door shows a painted scene with 2 birds perched within flowers. Lower door opens to 3 graduated dovetailed drawers. The cabinet panels are neatly framed in square and rectangular trim. Upper. middle and lower sections have a fluted band that goes horizontally across the piece. There are 4 legs with a bulbous reeded top that taper into arrow feet. Chest bears Berkey and Gays original Stamp 1905-1929.
