Gustave Loiseau (1865-1935)

A french Post-Impressinist painter. Gustave was best known for his street scenes and landscapes. Born and studied in Paris. Gustave studied drawing at the Ecole des arts decotatifs before leaving school due to an argument with his teacher. Before becoming a painter he was anapprenticeas a decorator with a friend of his family. This allowed him a foot in the door when he was decorating for Fernand Quigon (1854-1941) a famous landscape painter who soon became his tutor. He drew in the form of en treillis (cross hatching) which give his works a special detail that he is still recognized for today.
